FANUC Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

Patrion provides hands-on FANUC Troubleshooting & Diagnostics services focused on minimizing downtime and restoring deterministic robot and cell performance. Field engineers are certified to work on FANUC controllers and tooling—R-30iB Plus controllers, CRX series collaborative robots, and ROBOGUIDE offline simulation environments—and apply a disciplined diagnostic workflow that aligns with IEC and ISO safety and control standards. Typical engagements begin with capture and preservation of alarm buffers, I/O maps, and servo logs using FANUC FOCAS2/TCP services and the iPendant. Network-level diagnostics use packet capture (Wireshark), EtherNet/IP/PROFINET stack validation, and OPC-UA/Modbus TCP checks to isolate communication faults between the robot controller, PLC (IEC 61131 environments), vision systems (FANUC iRVision) and PLC/SCADA networks. Technical troubleshooting covers mechanical, electrical, and software root causes: encoder and feedback verification with oscilloscope and encoder test tools, servo amplifier health and parameter audits, tachometer/encoder wiring and shielding inspections, tool-center-point (TCP) and payload tuning, and program-level logic debugging (trajectory files, offset corruption, and state machine errors). For collaborative CRX cobots the team verifies ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066 compliance for speed-and-separation, force-limiting parameters, and safety I/O. Patrion leverages ROBOGUIDE to reproduce faults offline, test corrected programs, and validate cycle-time improvements before returning code to production. Patrion offers both on-site fault isolation and secure, customer-approved remote diagnostics via FOCAS2 tunnels and VPNs for rapid data collection and live program tracing. Deliverables include a written root-cause analysis, step-by-step remediation (parameter changes, firmware rollback or update), spare-parts recommendations, and verification test procedures aligned to IEC 61508 functional safety where applicable. In legacy or brownfield systems Patrion performs interface reverse-engineering, I/O remapping, and protocol bridging to modernize comms (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, OPC-UA) without interrupting MES/ERP integrations (ISA-95). The team documents findings in a machine-readable report suitable for procurement and maintenance planning, and can deploy corrective firmware, ROBOGUIDE-validated program updates, and preventative maintenance packages to mitigate recurrence.
